Right-click any picture on a web page and choose Remove background. The result is saved to your Downloads folder.
The extension needs an API key. It is free: get one at api.erasebackground.app.
The picture you choose is sent to the Erase Background API, processed in memory and not stored. Your key is kept in your browser's settings.
